The Young and the Restless has snagged a four-year renewal, ensuring that the denizens of Genoa City will be around to delight and titillate, frustrate and thrill for some time to come.
The Young And The Restless Renewed
“The Young and the Restless has been a staple of daytime television for over 50 years, and it is with great pleasure that we will continue that legacy at CBS,” said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, in a statement.
“The talented cast and writers deliver compelling performances and stories on a daily basis and have provided iconic moments that have kept the show on top of the ratings and thrilled generations of fans for over five decades. We look forward to seeing what new creative twists and turns they have planned for the folks of Genoa City.”
The renewal will see Y&R ring in its 55th season. The soap is currently averaging 3.5 million viewers per episode, making it the No. 1 most-watched daytime drama for the 36th year in a row.
2024 is proving to be most auspicious. In addition to the contract extension, Y&R has so far marked Melody Thomas Scott’s [Nikki Newman] 45th anniversary, as well as Eric Braeden’s [Victor Newman] 40th. By years end, Peter Bergman [Jack Abbott], Sharon Case [Sharon Newman Rosales], and Michelle Stafford [Phyllis Summers] will all celebrate their 30 years since their debuts.
