The Young and the Restless kicked off a new week with plenty of drama. Genoa City’s favorite family The Newmans were the main focus of Monday’s episode. Victor is back in charge at Newman Enterprises, but his reign might not last long if Victoria has her way. Meanwhile, Adam and Sally’s friendly dinner takes an intimate turn. Here’s a recap of the Sept. 18, 2023 episode.
Victor’s Portrait Goes Back Up
At Newman Enterprises, Victor is already moving his stuff into the office. His iconic portrait goes back up on the wall and The Moustache raises a fist in victory. Nate arrives and Victor offers him a drink as they discuss Victoria’s demotion. Victor says it wasn’t because she did a bad job, but Victor felt it was time for him to take back the reins. Nate understands, it’s Victor’s company and he should run it how he pleases. Victor asks Nate if he thinks it was a mistake demoting Victoria. Nate says he’s remaining neutral, but says Victoria is angry. When Victor asks Nate if he thinks Victoria will retaliate, he doesn’t respond.
Victoria Expresses Her Concerns To Nikki
At Society, Nate is keeping an anxious Victoria company as she awaits her mother’s arrival. Nate inquires about Victoria’s nervousness. She replies, she’s concerned about her father and her mother should be too. Nate wonders if this is about her anger over being demoted. Victoria smiles, but denies it. She admits she is concerned about her dad’s decisions when it comes to business.
Nikki arrives and Nate excuses himself to make a conference call. Victoria and Nikki sit down for dinner, and talk immediately begins about Victor. Nikki understands Victoria’s upset about Victor’s changes. Victoria says it’s more than that, Victor has been making irrational decisions and she thinks he’s incapable of running the company. Nikki is appalled by Victoria’s outburst. Victoria says she’s worried about Victor’s health and Nikki should be too. Nikki understands Victor’s reason for wanting to return to Newman Enterprises, he wants to be productive. But Victoria reminds her mother that all the stress won’t be good for Victor. Nikki promises she’ll look after Victor.
Later Victor arrives home, and he and Nikki discuss Victoria. He’s upset about the rift between him and his daughter, but needs her help running Newman. Nikki suggests that Victor hold off the takeover for a few weeks to give Victoria time to adjust. Nikki then suggests that she and Victor take a trip before he returns to work.
Victoria arrives at Newman Enterprises and I upset to see Victor’s portrait back up. She then text Nate, who arrives. Nate says he talks to her father earlier and Victor asked if she plans to retaliate. Victoria accuses Nate of snitching, but he claims he didn’t say a word. But he tells Victoria he doesn’t agree with her retaliation plot, she says it’s a shame, she was hoping he’s come around.
Adam Kisses Sally
At the jazz lounge, Adam is having a drink when Sally arrives. She accepts his offer of joining him and their discussion turns to Victor. Adam says being fired by Victor was his wake up call and he’s turning over a new leaf. Sally jokes he must be sick, but says she’s proud. She then invites him to dinner to celebrate the new Adam.
Throughout the meal, Sally and Adam toast to their new beginnings. He congratulates her on her design business, and says he’s still plotting his next step. Sally becomes alarmed by his choice of words, but he says she’s being dramatic. The rest of the dinner goes smoothly with the two smiling and laughing.
As the evening winds down, Adam escorts Sally back to her room. Outside her door, Adam kisses Sally, but quickly apologizes when he realizes his mistake. Adam leaves, and Sally goes inside, but leans against the door as she thinks about the kiss.
