Today’s The Young and the Restless recap for October 18, 2023, details Kyle’s guilt and anger, Phyllis’s threats, and Mamie’s sneaky family quest.
Kyle’s Anger and Guilt Collide
Jack (Peter Bergman) and Billy (Jason Thompson) were concerned when they saw how distracted Kyle (Michael Mealor) was. He didn’t let on that Audra (Zuleyka Silver) had just suggested teaming up with her and Tucker (Trevor St. John) to take over Jabot so Jack and Billy began discussing Tucker and Jabot.
They were ticked about the listening device in the bonsai tree so their next plan was to reveal that Tucker had once covered up a statutory rape. Kyle tried to talk them out of it by reminding his father that Tucker would just become more vengeful.
The look of guilt was all over Kyle’s face as Jack talked about a united family front to fight back against Tucker. After Billy left, Jack assured Kyle he would still find the perfect spot for him at Jabot. But Kyle wasn’t interested. He still only wanted the co-CEO position. When Diane (Susan Walters) and Traci (Beth Maitland) arrived home, they wondered why Kyle angrily walked out of the living room.
Diane decided to follow him to Crimson Lights but she couldn’t convince him to forgive Jack for keeping Billy in his new Jabot job. Kyle informed her he had another offer but didn’t know if he’d take it yet. Diane then brought up the subject of Audra and wondered why her son would associate himself with a woman like that. Her words only infuriated Kyle more.
Traci asked Jack what Kyle was so upset about and was surprised to hear he wanted his old job back. However, Jack couldn’t bring himself to fire Billy when Billy was finally coming into his own with the family company.
Tucker’s Plans are Coming Together
Tucker wasn’t happy when Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) threatened to reveal that Tucker has a connection to Mamie (Veronica Redd) but he refused to give her any details. He chalked it off as nothing so Phyllis reminded him that Devon (Bryton James), Jill (Jess Walton), and Lily (Christel Khalil) might be interested in the news.
Phyllis continued to toy with Tucker and told him she knew he had an interest in Mamie’s company and that he planted that bug in his wedding present to Jack and Diane. Phyllis wanted to know why Tucker seemed to want to take over his son’s company.
Phyllis told Tucker she just wanted to be left alone. She was tired of him controlling her life and would keep everything she knew quiet if Tucker would let her be. Before Tucker could respond, Audra showed up, which both angered and intrigued Phyllis.
She had a few words with Audra before she finally left. Once alone with Tucker, Audra told him she would work with him in his quest to take over Jabot. She even thought she could get Kyle to join them.
Mamie is on a Mission
Nate (Sean Dominic) and Mamie met up for drinks where she tried to find out what was going on in the Newman Enterprises world. She heard there was a shakeup at the top and wondered why Nate wanted to be a part of the chaos.
She wanted him to defect from Newman and return to Chancellor-Winters but Nate didn’t think he could ever get Lily and Devon to trust him again. He also thought his ideas weren’t respected at Chancellor-Winters.
Mamie was determined that Nate see things her way. Her entire reason for returning to town and buying those shares was to make sure that Devon, Lily, and Nate reunite and work together again. Her family means everything to her.
However, she did not tell Nate she was working with Tucker. Mamie was also concerned with Nate’s relationship with Victoria (Amelia Heinle) but all Nate could do was praise Victor’s (Eric Braeden) oldest daughter. Mamie reminded Nate that he would always be an outsider at Newman even if he ended up marrying Victoria.
While Nate continued to balk at the idea of ever working with Lily and Devon again, Mamie promised that she could get his cousins to bring him back on board and give him more say in the company.
