Today’s The Young and the Restless recap for December 4, 2023, details the Newmans’ first day back in GC, Jill’s offer to Billy, and Christine’s surprise romantic move.
Could Claire Grace Be Eve?
Victor (Eric Braeden), Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), Nick (Joshua Morrow), Victoria (Amelia Heinle), and Cole (J. Eddie Peck) arrived back at the ranch after their ordeal in Oregon looking like they’d been through the wringer. Victor immediately pontificated on what they all went through, happy that those “lunatics” would pay for what they did to his family.
Nikki didn’t listen to much of what he said as she couldn’t keep her eyes off the bottle of vodka sitting on the bar. She finally looked away to join the rest of the family, insisting she was fine. Victor kept up the revenge talk until Victoria surprised him — she felt sorry for Claire (Haykey Erin).
Victor couldn’t imagine why so Victoria explained. Jordan trained her to hate them and now her life was ruined. Nikki was aghast that Victoria didn’t feel anything but contempt for this “heartless sociopath.” Victoria wasn’t deterred, defending Claire as best she could.
As they debated whether Jordan was really Eve’s sister, Victor turned to his trusty phone for the answer. He had his people do some digging and the report just came in. Jordan (Colleen Zenk) was indeed who she said she was. In fact, she was even a traveling nurse who worked at GC Memorial at the time Eve was born and disappeared soon after she died.
Cole and Victoria couldn’t get the look in Claire’s eyes out of their minds when Jordan said she stole Baby Eve from the hospital. They saw how shocked she was and wondered if she really could be the baby they believed died. After discussing the matters over coffee, Cole thought they needed to face Claire and begin looking for the truth.
Jill Wants Her Son On Board
Billy (Jason Thompson) and Jill (Jess Walton) met up at Society for a little mother-son chat. Billy was surprised when his mother told him that Mamie Johnson (Veronic Redd) was attempting to pull a “fast one” on her. All Billy could do was laugh that off. His father’s housekeeper was good at business, but that didn’t make her a corporate shark.
He also found it hard to believe that Mamie was working with Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John). Still, Jill was insistent that Mamie was trying to steal her company so she wanted Billy to help her thwart this threat. She knew he wasn’t happy working at Jabot and felt outnumbered by the Winters members of Chancellor-Winters.
Billy didn’t get a chance to give Jill an answer because Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) arrived and interrupted their conversation. Chelsea sat down with them so Billy could tell her about the job offer. While Billy balked at the prospect of working with Jill, Chelsea seemed to think it was a great idea.
Christine Goes For Broke
At Crimson Lights, Chelsea continued to oddly push Summer (Allison Lanier) to after Chance (Conner Floyd) even though he’s very clearly dating Sharon (Sharon Case). That line of conversation stopped when Phyllis walked in and surprised her daughter. Chelsea quickly left so Phyllis could accuse Summer of trying to shut her out of her life.
Summer insisted she was doing no such thing but Phyllis accused her of clamming up every time her mother asked her a question about her personal life. Phyllis even broke down in tears, crying that she was working hard to be a better person and deserved more of a chance. So, Summer changed course and told her mom that she wanted Chance so fiercely that it was painful.
Surprisingly, she also still wanted Kyle (Michael Mealor), so this became a fascinating mother-daughter chat. In the end, Phyllis acted just like Phyllis and told Summer to do whatever was necessary to get what she wanted.
Danny (Michael Damian) and Christine (Lauralee Bell) ran into each other at the GCAC with Danny acting like it was his lucky day. They agreed to have breakfast together and Chris was wowed when she listened to Danny’s new song. Things were going great until Danny stupidly told Chris that both she and Phyllis were his muses, inspiring him to write new songs.
Needless to say, Christine’s jaw dropped at the very thought of this so Danny explained. He saw that Phyllis was becoming a better person and was impressed. That didn’t mean he had feelings for her. When he told her the name of his new song was “Hawaii On My Mind” (the place where they wed), Chris pulled Danny in for a kiss just as Phyllis and Summer walked in.
