The Bold and the Beautiful Recap: Eric Is About To Open His Eyes

Today’s The Bold and the Beautiful recap for December 21, 2023, details the decision to take Eric off the ventilator.

A Miracle For Eric?

Eric (John McCook) remained unconscious and on a ventilator in the hospital where Bridget (Ashley Jones) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) felt helpless. They wanted him off the ventilator ASAP but weren’t sure he’d be able to breathe on his own. They finally decided it had to be done as they feared Eric could develop pneumonia, but they needed Ridge’s (Thorsten Kaye) permission first.

Back at the Forrester mansion, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) lamented Eric’s condition and wondered if she did the right thing by begging Ridge to allow Finn to perform the procedure. Ridge assured his daughter that she wasn’t the only factor in his decision, as others begged for the same.

Oddly enough, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) read to them from the bible to make Ridge and Steffy feel better. Right after that, Bridget called to tell them about the decision to take Eric off the ventilator. They rushed to the hospital where Ridge agreed to let the family doctors do what they thought was best.

When the moment finally came to remove the ventilator, Eric’s eyes suddenly started to flutter and his loved ones wondered if he was ready to come back to them. If so, it would be a Christmas miracle, indeed. Too bad they left poor Zende (Delon De Metz) out of the visit.

Sparks Fly Between Zende And Luna

Luna (Lisa Yamada) sat in the design office “thinking about Eric and how wonderful he is” when Zende walked in to tell her he’d just seen his grandfather that morning. His condition was the same and Zende was worried that Eric would not make it.

Zende still wanted to be the one to help finish Eric’s collection, but he didn’t want to cause any more trouble with Ridge and RJ (Joshua Hoffman) during this time. Zende was grateful to have Luna there to distract him and make him feel better as he worried about his grandfather.

In turn, Luna was grateful for the compliments and the bond she’d created with the Forrester family.
