Today’s Days of Our Lives recap for October 19, 2023, details the latest scheme to take over DiMera, as well as Holly and Tate’s teenage angst, and a Leo and Dimitri dirty trick.

Gabi and Stefan Use a Child

Gabi (Camila Banus) decided she and Stefan (Brandon Barash) should kidnap Rachel (Finley Rose Slater) to get Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) to sign over her DiMera shares to them. Stefan reminded her that kidnapping Rachel was a bit played out because other people have tried it to get Kristen to bend to their will and it’s never worked out.

Stefan thought it would be a better idea to bribe the custody judge to change her ruling and give Rachel back to Brady (Eric Martsolf) if Kristen didn’t do as they wanted. In the end, they realized he best bet was digging for dirt on Kristen to get the judge to take Rachel away from her.

By the end of the hour, Gabi offered Brady a proposition and Stefan bribed Rachel with some ice cream.

Holly Surprises All With Her Crush

Tate (Jaime Martin Mann) wasn’t happy to learn he now has a job washing dishes at The Brady Pub and pointed out that it would take him years to pay off the debt to his school. Brady (Eric Martsolf) insisted it wasn’t just about money. It was about learning responsibility. An angry Tate ended up accusing Brady of only caring about him because he didn’t have custody of Rachel anymore.

Brady argued that he wasn’t trying to replace Rachel so Tate offered to do Brady a favor and put in a good word about their dad the next time he saw Rachel. Brady wanted to know what was in it for Tate. The teen admitted visiting Rachel at the DiMera mansion was also an excuse to go see Holly (Ashley Puzemis).

Holly put a damper on Kristen and Rachel’s fun day shopping when she threatened Rachel for stealing her Taylor Swift shampoo. Rachel told Holly the boys might not like her if her hair wasn’t perfect, which was on-brand for Rachel. After Rachel ran off to the kitchen for some cookies, Kristen offered Holly a job tutoring Rachel in math.

Holly claimed she didn’t need the money, but she’d be willing to help Rachel if Kristen helped her score points with a boy she liked. Kristen was surprised to hear this boy was Johnny (Carson Boatman), someone way older than Holly. Kristen made note of the fact that Johnny was a man and not a boy but Holly didn’t care.

Their conversation ended when Tate arrived. He and Holly exchanged some heated words before she ended up admitting she had a crush on Johnny. Tate immediately wondered if Johnny might be a little too old for 16-year-old Holly.

Leo and Dimitri’s Plan Works

Dimitri (Peter Porte) was all ready for Leo (Greg Rikaart) to break him out of the hospital before he ended up behind bars but Leo was still hesitant. He didn’t know if he could pull it off even if Dimitri had faith in him. At least they had plenty of time to plan as Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) took her time signing the release papers.

During the delay, Leo managed to pick the lock on Dimitri’s handcuffs. By the time Kayla got there and Leo left the room, Dimitri was able to grab Kayla and cuff her to the bed. Leo then returned with a blonde wig and a wheelchair to help Dimitri make his great escape.
