In a major switch up, primetime and video game stalwart Adam Harrington has assumed the part of John “Jagger” Cates on General Hospital.
Welcome Back Jagger
When last seen on screen, in episodes of GH spinoff series Night Shift, the character was played by Antonio Sabato, Jr who’d made his debut in 1992 before exiting two years later. A brief reprisal in 1995 followed.
While GH is his first daytime soap, Harrington’s plethora of credits include roles on Queer as Folk, Smallville, CSI, Parks and Recreation, and Supernatural, as well as his voice work for popular video games such as L.A. Noir, and The God of War franchise. The actor also appears to have an affinity for playing FBI agents, having done so in both Bosh, and Dexter.
Though it’s been years since Jagger — who’ll apparently be going by his given name henceforth — has been in Port Charles, several people will remember him well. Back in the day, he hired Felicia (Kristina Wagner) to trace his sister Gina, and his brother Mike “Stone” Cates was one of Robin Scorpio’s great loves.
Then there are his prickly relationships with Sonny (Michael Corinthos), who once put a hit out on the boxer turned cop turned G-man, and the soon-to-be returning to Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) whom he battled for Karen Wexler’s affections. And speaking of Karen, she was Scott Baldwin’s (Kin Shriner) surprise daughter, so there’s yet another familiar (practically familial) connection.
How surprised were you by the appearance of Jagger? What did you make of the change in actor? And who are you most looking forward to seeing him reunite with?
