Today’s The Young and the Restless recap for December 6, 2023, details Nikki’s alcoholism and Jordan’s return.
The Newmans Have A Dangerous Enemy
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) couldn’t help herself and grabbed a glass of vodka she quickly swigged down before Victor (Eric Braeden) noticed. When Victor returned to the living room with Nikki’s tea, it didn’t occur to him that she was standing right at the bar.
However, he was worried about Nikki’s sobriety after Jordan (Colleen Zenk) pumped all that alcohol directly into her veins. Nikki admitted she was struggling, but not that she took a drink. She promised to reach out to her sponsor and to go to an AA meeting.
Before Nikki could leave the house, she received another strange phone call in which she could only hear big band music. She realized the music was familiar, but couldn’t quite place it. Might it be a tune from her time as a stripper at The Bayou?
Once Nikki was at the meeting, she broke down in tears and admitted her 4 years, 11 months, and 21 days of sobriety had come to an end. She explained that she was kidnapped and forced to ingest vodka against permission. Later, she tossed a glass into the trash that she had hidden in her purse.
When Nikki and Victor met up at the GCAC for lunch, she hummed the tune for the pianist. When he started playing, she knew the song immediately.
Later, we saw Jordan check into a motel room with an evil smirk on her face.
Nate’s New Discovery
Nate (Sean Dominic) impatiently sat at the GCAC bar waiting to hear from Devon (Bryton James) about whether he’d be welcomed back to Chancellor-Winters or not. Tucker (Trevor St. John) soon stopped by to congratulate him on his move to get Victor committed. Tucker thought it was a genius play but Nate continued to defend his actions. He truly believed Victor was sick.
As Tucker made snide remark after snide remark, Nate tried to make his escape but Tucker wouldn’t allow it. He convinced Nate to stay so he could tell him that Audra (Zuleyka Silver) wanted him on board with their corporate raider projects. He wasn’t sure at first, but now Tucker wanted to recruit him.
Nate told Tucker he wasn’t at all interested before calling Audra to see what she blabbed to Tucker. They met in her room where he angrily asked her why she left out the part about being involved with Tucker. She explained that he had no say in this new venture — it was a purely financial interest.
Nate quickly figured out that Tucker wanted to take over Jabot.
Lily And Devon Make A Decision
Lily (Christel Khalil) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) ran into one another at Crimson and sat down for a chat. Lily was surprised to see Nick looking a bit worse for wear but he didn’t tell her what happened. Lily then asked Nick to tell her what really happened with Nate so Nick didn’t mince words. Nate was in the wrong and that was that.
Lily knew things were much more complicated than that, especially because Victor was tricking everyone into believing he had dementia. She even tried to defend Nate and suggested that he was trying to protect both Victor and Newman Enterprises.
Nick didn’t buy it and tried to get Lily to see that Nate had the most to gain if Victor was in a clinic. Lily played devil’s advocate and wondered what Victor would have done if one of his kids’ had suggested sending him away. She didn’t think the punishment fit the crime with Nate. Nick believed Newman kids would have also been fired.
Nick told Lily they dodged a bullet with Nate already before walking out as Devon walked in. Lily and Devon compared notes and wondered if re-hiring Nate was a good idea. In the end, they decided it wasn’t.
