The Young and the Restless recap for December 18, 2023, details Newman shock and fear, as well as a few Abbott surprises.
Shock And Trouble For The Newmans
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) began her morning staring at the Newman living room bar until Victoria (Amelia Heinle) and Cole (J. Eddie Peck) arrived to distract her. Michael (Christian Le Blanc) showed up next to tell them that Claire (Hayley Erin) pleaded guilty by reason of insanity and could be remanded to a mental health facility in Genoa City.
Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki freaked out about the news, especially Nikki whose nerves were frayed as she longed for a drink. Victor had just wanted to ‘neutralize’ Jordan (Collen Zenk) before Claire became a part of their lives again.
When Nikki pointed out that they weren’t even sure who Claire really was, Cole got a text with the answer. Claire was their daughter. The new stunned the Nemans, especially Victoria who grieved her baby for so long. The ‘new’ parents rushed right to GC Memorial to be there when Claire arrived.
When they finally saw Claire, Victoria and Cole told her that they tested both of their DNA against hers and she was their daughter. Back at the ranch, Nikki chugged down some vodka before looking out the window to see Jordan lurking.
Tucker Lays It On Thick
When Audra (Zuleyka Silver) approached the GCAC bar, Tucker (Trevor St. John) couldn’t wait to make a crack about recognizing her without Tucker by her side. And, Audra couldn’t wait to tell Tucker about her recent conversation with Kyle (Michael Mealor) in which he admitted he didn’t trust the man.
Audra point-blank asked Tucker whether Kyle was right — was Tucker setting him to take the fall as a Jabot traitor? Furthermore, was any part of Tucker’s plan true?
Of course not. Everything Tucker told Kyle was a message for Jack (Peter Bergman). Too bad Tucker didn’t know it was really a message for Diane (Susan Walters) and Jack had no idea what his wife and son were up to.
Audra wanted to know what the real plan was, but Tucker wasn’t saying — probably because he didn’t know either. In the end, Tucker assured Audra that he valued and needed her. He didn’t respect and trust a lot of people, but he respected and trusted Audra. He even wanted to hand her Jabot.
A Busy Morning For Jack And Diane
Diane and Kyle dined at Society where he told her Tucker’s plan — have Kyle steal Jabot secrets and have either Billy (Jason Thompson) or Diane take the fall as the culprit.
Diane was a bit surprised by that news, but Kyle didn’t have many more details that could put her mind at ease. He also thought Tucker would pin the whole thing on him in the end. At this point, Diane thought it was only right to bring Jack in on the plan
Billy started the day with some news for Jack. He was leaving Jabot and there was nothing Jack could say to talk him out of it. That didn’t mean a shocked Jack didn’t try. Billy explained that he was going to work for his mother at Chancellor-Winters and Jack didn’t need to hand him a job to watch over him.
He also felt like the war with Tucker was a lot like a gambler’s high and he didn’t want to be involved anymore. That’s when Jack finally understood. Billy further explained that Jack seemed to limit him at Jabot and he’d be free to be creative at Chancellor-Winters. Jack had to finally accept Billy’s decision.
When Kyle and Diane returned home, Jack stunned them with the news about Billy. However, he wasn’t sure if Kyle should get his old job back.
