It’s official. With Esme’s plunge into those choppy, murky waters (with Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s Spencer Cassadine wrapped around her), actress Avery Kristen Pohl is bidding General Hospital adieu.
It’s Goodbye — For Now
A spokesperson for the ABC soap confirmed to Soap Opera Digest that the January 31 episode, which saw a murder-minded Esme tumble over a ship’s railings, had served as Pohl’s onscreen swan song.
While no one is going to shed a tear over Esme’s apparent demise (they come back, they ALWAYS come back), actress Tabyana Ali (Trina Robinso) is going to miss her play rival.
“With Avery [as opposed to Chavez who’s taking a brief, preplanned hiatus from GH], it’s a little different because she lives right across the street from me and I talk to her all the time,” explained Ali. “But I was still like, ‘Dang, I’m not going to see you at work! But I will see you in the neighborhood!’ We talk and hang out frequently, but I hate that I’m not going to see her at work. I’ll still call her every day, but I am going to miss seeing her at work. The day that Avery left was a very tearful day. We all gave her hugs and flowers and gifts. It was a bittersweet thing.”
