Today’s The Young and the Restless recap for October 17, 2023, sees Jack defending Phyllis and Phyllis playing dirty. Plus, Audra throws Kyle for a loop with her new plan.
Jack Sees Phyllis’s Good Side, Billy Does Not
When Jack (Peter Bergman) told Billy (Jason Thompson) that it was Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) who tipped him off to the fact that Tucker’s (Trevor St. John) bonsai tree wedding gift contained a surprise listening device hidden within its branches, Billy immediately saw red flags. He thought Phyllis was playing them all but Jack thought she was trying to redeem herself so she could stop being the town pariah. However, Billy was sure she was still working for Tucker.
Jack and Billy argued back and forth about this for a while as Tucker listened to the whole conversation via his phone. He even played some of it for Phyllis when she visited Tucker at the Society bar. The question remained — for whose sake did Jack and Billy have their little debate?
Phyllis Plays The Long Game
Phyllis was surprised when both of her adult children took her out for a night at Society to celebrate their mom’s new job. She put on a happy and grateful face because at least Daniel (Michael Graziadei) was paying. It was clear Phyllis didn’t like her entry-level position, but Daniel and Summer (Allison Lanier) hoped their mom could swallow her pride for a bit.
When Tucker walked in, Phyllis was immediately distracted but Daniel wasn’t happy that he was glaring at his mom and told Tucker to stop. Phyllis took her turn talking to Tucker where she learned he was listening to every word Jack and Billy were saying via his phone.
After Tucker left, Summer and Daniel demanded to know what was really going on between their mother and Tucker, so Phyllis admitted she hacked into Tucker’s computer and learned about his listening device purchases before passing on the information to Jack. Daniel and Summer were disappointed with Phyllis, but she insisted she was the good guy in this scenario.
However, Phyllis went right back to her scheming ways when she arrived at Tucker’s hotel room to tell him she knew all about his partnership with Mamie (Veronica Redd) and would expose him to Lily and Devon if he didn’t cooperate with her.
Kyle Contemplates Betrayal
Audra (Zuleyka Silver) and Kyle (Michael Mealor) enjoyed some more time in bed where they discussed business more than pleasure. Kyle was angry because Jack chose Billy over him and refused to fire Billy to give Kyle his old job back. So, Audra had her own proposition for Kyle. She had a way to stake her own claim on Jabot and would make Kyle CEO. He just had to go along with whatever Tucker wanted.
Kyle was taken aback by this idea but definitely intrigued. At first, he balked but he finally decided to hear Audra out. Tucker was going to take over Jabot anyway so Kyle might as well join them. Kyle wasn’t sure if he could betray his parents this way. By the end of the night, Kyle did not say yes, but he also didn’t say no. When Kyle returned to the Abbott mansion for the night, Jack and Billy could tell her was disturbed about something when Kyle couldn’t even look them in the eyes.
